About this grant

The Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services, National Wildlife Research Center anticipates awarding cooperative agreement funding to support one project investigating chronic wasting disease (CWD) as a population-limiting factor in Northern Colorado mule deer and white-tailed deer. The study will analyze relationships between CWD, other pathogens, and causes of mortality, as well as support the development and optimization of live tests for CWD. Activities include capturing and monitoring deer, deploying GPS collars, biological sampling, and conducting spatial analyses.
