Who can apply

  • Applications may be submitted by community-based organizations with experience in agricultural services for Veteran farmers/ranchers, 1890/1994 institutions, Indian Tribal community colleges, Alaska Native cooperative colleges, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, higher education institutions with demonstrated experience, Indian tribes/national tribal organizations, and certain previously funded entities.
  • Policy Research Center applications are limited to 1890 Land-grant Universities.

About this grant

The purpose of the OAVFR program is to assist Veterans in owning and operating farms and ranches and to ensure they are knowledgeable and participating in the full range of USDA programs. With OAVFR funding, recipient organizations can provide outreach, technical assistance, and education in agriculture, agribusiness, forestry, and agricultural-related services.
